Hawksley Developments now focuses exclusively on customised architectural building design, offering a tailored approach to every project, from intimate renovations and extensions to expansive multi‑million dollar developments. Each project is approached with the same meticulous attention to detail, craftsmanship, and design integrity, ensuring that every outcome is both uniquely personal and architecturally exceptional.
Phillip brings a unique combination of design vision and construction expertise, underpinned by extensive qualifications and a career spanning diverse architectural and building disciplines. With a foundation in carpentry and joinery through an apprenticeship at J & T Gunn in Launceston, Phillip has developed a deep understanding of craftsmanship that continues to inform his architectural approach. His formal credentials include Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction Management, Advanced Diploma of Project Management, Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction, and Diploma of Building Design.
As Principal of Hawksley Developments, Phillip now focuses on delivering bespoke architectural building design, approaching every commission, from modest residential renovations and design concepts to multi-million dollar projects with the same level of dedication, creativity, and precision. His work demonstrates a mastery of multiple styles, from contemporary to heritage, always tailored to reflect the individuality of each client and the character of each site.
Throughout the course of his career Phillip has been recognised with membership of the Australian Institute of Building, Australian Institute of Project Management, Master Builders Association, Housing Industry Association, and Building Designers Association of Australia. His projects have earned numerous awards from the Master Builders Association, National Trust of Australia, Housing Industry Association, and Publicity Press, reflecting both design excellence and construction integrity.
Holding accreditation as a Building Designer and a Builder–Open licence through the Department of Justice Tasmania, Phillip maintains full professional compliance, including necessary insurances and continuing professional development. His career extends across Tasmania, Western Australia, and Queensland, with experience encompassing residential, multi-residential, renovation, commercial, high-rise, heritage restoration, and large-scale civic projects such as aquatic and sporting centres.
With a rare breadth of expertise that bridges design and construction, Phillip offers clients not only architectural creativity but also the assurance of technical knowledge and practical experience. His commitment is to work closely with each client to transform their vision into a distinctive architectural outcome, whether a small-scale renovation or a landmark development.
